The More You Know

Hello! My name is Mckenzie Conger. I was born in Pennsylvania but raised in Ohio. I became a missionary in 2024 by joining YWAM Kona for my DTS. The Lord called me into missions by growing my understanding of His love for me and for the people I saw every day. I learned that many people have never heard the gospel, and it broke my heart — especially for the Japanese people who don’t yet know His love.

At YWAM Lancaster, I joined a team called Rally, where we travel across America to share about the great need for people to hear God’s love and to call others to go and preach the gospel! Thank you for your prayers and partnership!

Song of Solomon has been my favorite book for a year now. It beautifully portrays the love of God as a Bridegroom, in a way that isn’t shown in depth in any other book. I feel that knowing this love is very important to the Christian faith, because one day Jesus, the Bridegroom, will return for His bride.

I personally use the ESV and NLT. I especially love referring to the NLT in my messages because it’s easier to comprehend when working with people from a variety of different walks with the Lord.

The Amazonas in Colombia and Peru — there are so many reasons why it was memorable. My team got to see a village that didn’t know Jesus experience revival in just two days. They were so hungry for Jesus, even without realizing it. It was the first place I had been where people didn’t know Jesus, and because we went to share Him, they now did.

I was at a SEND conference when Andy Bryd delivered a message about the greatest injustice in the world — people not knowing what Jesus did for us. My heart was pounding, as if God was knocking on the door of my heart. I couldn’t believe that entire nations were living without knowing Jesus or what He had done for them. That night, I gave my first “yes” to partnering with God and seeing people come to know His love.

I completed my DTS in Kona in March 2025. Even though the SEND conference had cultivated my heart for missions, I was still filled with fear at the reality of letting go of my American dream and committing to long-term service. During DTS, the Lord worked in my heart, leading me to joyfully give my “yes” to long-term missions.

I was in Bogotá, Colombia, working in the red-light district — a zone filled with prostitutes. Two days before Valentine’s Day, my team and I handed out roses and handwritten letters that we had prayed over for them. I saw how much the women just wanted love, and how they felt seen and heard through a simple act of kindness with a flower.

Most of them said they didn’t want to be in this business but felt desperate. This experience changed my life because it stirred a huge heart in me for women all over the world who are stuck in this horrible situation and have lost their identities. They don’t know who they truly are or that they are beautiful. I am now passionate about spreading the gospel to these girls and helping them discover their true identities in Christ.
