What is the Heart of the Catalyst Bible School?
A priest was someone who stood as a representative between man and God. God calls His children to be a kingdom of priests – holy and set apart to bring Him glory.
Context
After The Fall, God began His plan of redemption to bring His children back to Him so that He could be their King and they could have relationship with Him Genesis 12:1-3 — (Abrahamic Covenant).
He encountered a man named Abraham and made a covenant with Him. God promised Abraham that He would make him into a great nation and through his descendants all the nations of earth would be blessed. God promised that as long as Israel would keep His commands, He would always be with them and be their king. (God desire from the beginning was to be with His children and be their king) Exodus 19:6 — Kingdom of Priests.
Over 400 years later, a brand new generation of Israelites was enslaved under the Egyptians. God called on Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery. And once they were in the wilderness God began to teach them how to follow Him and keep His commandments.
God intended for Israel to be a kingdom of priests, where every believer could come before God themselves, and as a group they represented God to the nations — Going back to Genesis 12. (He would bless them so that they could be a blessing to the nations of the earth. The whole nation was to act as mediators of God’s grace so that everyone could worship Him.
But we can see that the people were afraid and became passive. They did not want to take initiative, and instead wanted to look to a man (Moses) to represent them and come before the Lord. So Israel sent Moses up the mountain, but in reality, it was God’s desire that He would reveal His glory to all of Israel.
As we continue reading the story of Israel, it follows the same pattern; in their fear and idolatry, they wanted to look to a man to lead them instead of following God as their king and allowing Him to use them as a kingdom of priests.
Until - Jesus
Jesus came and modeled what it looks like to live in perfect relationship with God. Jesus showed us what it looks like to look to the Father as our Leader and King. Jesus said, “I only do what I see the Father doing” (John 5:19)
In John 4, Jesus prophesied that an hour is coming where true worshippers would worship the Father in Spirit + Truth. Jesus came and paid the price once and for all, so that we as his sons and daughters will live like this!
Jesus is the ultimate high priest that stands between God and mankind and he holds the keys to salvation and eternal life.
Holy Spirit — The Perfect Leader
So we are called to be holy priests who represent the fullness of Spirit + Truth, who catalyze breakthrough, action, and solution in a generation calling them to the Gospel and to the Great Commission.
When Jesus gave us the assignment He promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to be our leader and helper. He doesn’t just call some of us to be catalytic leaders and priests for Him but ALL.
His desire is that each one of us would submit to the Holy Spirit’s leadership and we would allow Him to use us to be catalysts that would carry His love, His truth and zeal and bring his kingdom to earth.
