The More You Know

Hey y’all! I am Juliette!

It’s such an honor to serve in missions here at YWAM Lancaster! I am from Northeast Indiana. I really didn’t know anything about Lancaster, PA until I felt the Lord clearly leading me to do my DTS here in 2020. I have the great honor of saying I was a part of the very first DTS ever run here – so fun! It was clear from the start that this was a mission and region anointed by the Lord to make significant impact in the Great Commission!

I encountered Jesus in powerful ways during my DTS and the Lord deepened my heart and call for missions, a call he began giving me when I was a sophomore in high school. I now have been serving here full time for three years! Practically, I serve in our Rally and Training Ministries, as well as in Worship and Prayer! I have a heart to see my generation walk closely with Jesus and live radically on mission! I’m committed to playing my role in seeing the most unreached people on the earth hear the gospel and receive a Bible in their own language!

One of my top favorites is Acts! I once listened to the entire book during a ten hour roadtrip and it marked me — hearing the stories of the crucial events that have marked history forever will never leave you the same! It also gave me amazing insight to read and really understand the Epistles of Paul.

I prefer the NET version! It’s incredibly easy to understand while not compromising the authenticity of the Scripture. It gives clear understanding of cultural contexts which I think is a key to truly understanding the truth of Scripture and the Man Jesus!

Kyrgyzstan! I nation in the heart of Central Asia bursting with beauty and diversity. Our team was there for two months. The city we were in sat at the base of some of the highest mountains in the world. We were able to go on a four hike to a waterfall, an experience I will never forget! I can confidently say I was marked with the majesty and Presence of God that I felt on that very challenging hike haha. His greatness was on clear display for us and I fell more in love with Him that day!

I can remember multiple, specific moments where the Holy Spirit touched my heart for missions — I’ll share one! I remember going to youth group one time in high school, and watching a sermon by David Platt. His message was on living radically for Jesus — at the end of it, he brought up an older woman who had been a long time missionary. She shared the heartbreaking story of how she had brutally lost her husband and family on the missions field — yet she still proclaimed Jesus was worthy and continued following Him. I remembered weeping hearing this story, being completely undone at this woman’s life and faith. When the lights turned on and the video ended, I remember looking around to see if other’s responses and noticed I was one of few crying. I felt crazy at the time but looking back, have realized it was a KEY moment in my journey with Jesus where He was marking me with a heart for missions.

I completed it in 2020 here at YWAM Lancaster. My DTS outreach to Kenya was the first time I had been to another nation. I remember coming home completely changed with so many new perspectives. It showed there were people and needs greater than myself, and deepened my desire to make an impact.

I really started learning the power of hearing the voice of God, fasting, and praying during my time in Kenya. One of the girls on our team wasn’t able to join us for the first two weeks due to some Covid-related issues, and at a few points it was looking as if she may not be able to join at all. It was a super challenging and disappointing situation — we strongly felt she was supposed to be on the team and part of the outreach with us! A few of us on the team felt the Lord leading us to fast and pray until we had breakthrough! The last night of our fast, as the rest of the team was eating dinner, we got a text saying she had been cleared and was hopping on a plane to join us! We praised God and ate dinner that night with thankful hearts! I learned that it’s essential to hear from the Lord while on outreach, and that fasting and praying are keys to breakthrough!
