The More You Know

Hi, my name is Faith Tanner. I am committed to equipping young people through the truth of God’s Word, discipleship, and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live confidently in their identity in Christ, to walk in full healing and freedom, and can stand firm in the authority He has given them against the tactics of the enemy. I believe when you know who Jesus is, you know who you are in Him. I long to see young people fully alive in their identity and purpose as they follow the call on their lives to fulfill the Great Commission.

My all time favorite book is Song of Solomon. Like I mentioned before, a lot of my childhood and teen years was spent on trying to search for someone or something to make me feel wanted and chosen but ultimately loved. I went through a season after DTS where God had me take a seat from all ministry I previously said yes to to work on my relationship with Him. In that season, He led me to SOS to read and write down verse by verse and instead of reading from an outside perspective of a bride and bridegroom, He wanted me to write it down using my name when the bridegroom was speaking to or about the bride. This book shifted my perspective on how in pursuit God is of me and how my wants of being fully seen, known, chosen, and loved is what I needed to look for in Him. It showed me that instead of being the pursuer in a romantic relationship, I am meant to be the one pursued. So much of my teen years I spent being the pursuer but that was because I didn’t have the perspective or revelation that I do now.

I love NLT, I have tried other translations but NLT is the one that has the verbiage that my brain understands. I think that because it uses verbiage that I use it’s a lot easier to communicate that to someone else when talking about the Scriptures.

I had a moment on my outreach DTS to the Philippines where I shared my testimony in a room of 6th graders and four girls came to me saying they have experienced what I have when I shared that growing up, I didn’t feel loved by my parents so that led to to look to other things like finding my worth in what I did for people, in pornography, in needing attention from boys to feel like I was wanted. But when I surrendered to Jesus, He was everything I was looking for. As we talked, they wanted to experience and know Jesus the way that I did so three of them surrendered their lives to Jesus. Two of them started opening up about self harm and at this point, I had never led anyone through or to or from self harm. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the 4 R’s, and as I explained that to them, one of them threw out her arms and said, ‘I want to be free!”. I led them through renouncing agreeing with the thoughts of suicide and the control of their life and after they gave me their razor blades that they brought to school. I remember going to my leaders at the end of the ministry time and saying, “If I get to lead people into freedom, I’ll do missions for the rest of my life.”

I did my DTS January 2023 with Circuit Riders. Going into the school, I knew I would be sharing my faith with other people and that we would go overseas but I don’t think I fully understood the impact of my yes until I had this moment with the girls in the Philippines. I was struggling to believe that the testimony of my life actually had the power to help someone, so God sent almost half way across the world to show me that what He’s done in me, is what He wants to use to impact other people. I’m just a girl from Pennsylvania that has said yes to God and He uses my simple yes to change other peoples lives. Crazy.

The Philippines is defiantly top 1 but another outreach testimony that has impacted me is from this past SMX I went to Pakistan. We had a driver named Azmat that is the nephew of our contact there. And our contact told us to basically blast him with all things Jesus because Azmat was “learning” and had an openness to Jesus. So my team and I played the audio bible in his language as we drove hours to our ministry locations, watched a part of the Jesus film with him, and just loved him like a brother until we left. It was so hard to leave because we wanted to see the fruit of the seeds we were planting. As I’ve come home and continued to pray for Azmat, God has been moving in my heart about Islam and He has been so faithful! Our contact messaged a few weeks after us being with them and said Azmat came to him and wanted to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He then got baptized the same day in a small blow up pool by his uncle, our contact. This has really impacted me because I use to view muslims and Islam as people who would never turn away from their religion and follow Christ. But after praying for Azmat’s salvation and seeing the fruit and faithfulness of God, God is shifting my perspective to fully see He can do anything. he can move in the most hardest and darkest heart and make it a heart of flesh.
