The More You Know

Hi! We are Kent and Janet Norell. We began our journey in YWAM serving aboard the M/V Good Samaritan Mercy Ship, ministering throughout the Caribbean. As our family grew, we moved to the Dominican Republic, where we directed the YWAM ministry for 25 years. For the past 10 years, we have been pastoring our home church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Now, we are excited to return to YWAM and help pioneer the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center in Lancaster, PA! Our passion is to support YWAM Lancaster in raising up and sending out workers to serve among the unreached nations of the world.

We like Proverbs because it helps us practically apply God’s wisdom to our lives.

We’ve made many trips to the refugee camps in the Sahara Desert of Algeria. It was beautiful to watch how Dominicans could readily share the gospel with Spanish speaking muslims.

Janet grew up in a missionary family serving the Eskimo and Indian populations of Alaska. When we married, we recognized the great need to get the gospel far beyond the shores of America.

We attended our DTS in Dumbarton Scotland in 1989. Our travels and our new international friendships helped open our eyes to God’s love for all nations.

One evening sitting by the fire in a Pastor’s home in Uruguay, the Pastor inquired as to my plans for my life. I was preparing for pastoral ministry in the USA. He countered with a question. “Kent, why spend your life doing what someone else will do, when you could serve here, and do what no one else will do?” God used that question to penetrate my heart.
