The More You Know

Hello, we are Luke and Julie! Along with our 6 kids, we love serving at YWAM Lancaster! We are passionate to see a missions movement come out of Lancaster County and surrounding regions that is birthed out of prayer and revival that will touch the nations of the earth, especially the unreached. Luke serves as the Director and Julie is on the Leadership team. Luke was raised in Lancaster, and Julie is from Colorado. We met through YWAM and lived in Colorado where we worked with YWAM and Solid Rock Foundation Ministries. There God developed a passion in us for worship, prayer, discipleship, and missions. In 2009, we moved back to Lancaster County. We served at Gateway House of Prayer for 8 years, and 4 of those years Luke served as the Director. In 2017, the Lord called us to join the pioneering process for the YWAM Lancaster base, which included training and staffing in Orlando, Florida for 2 years. It has been a miraculous pioneering journey with an amazing team! We are zealous to see young leaders raised up to lead out of a place of prioritizing the presence of God and living missionally in every sphere of society. Thank you for your prayers and partnership!

Luke

I love Ephesians. There’s so much regarding our position in the Lord and our identity in him. Also love some of the practical instruction pieces.

Julie

James because it has so much practical advice for everyday life.

Luke

I prefer ESV. I feel like the literal translation is best when it comes to studying God’s intention, and his word.

Julie

ESV-It is easy to understand.

Luke

Papua New Guinea. It was exciting to me because it’s a representation of how the gospel transforms a nation.

Julie

Pakistan-It was incredible to be in remote villages and be able to intercede in prayer for them. I also taught dental hygiene in a kids school which was super fun.

Luke

I definitely felt directed by God as a result of my experience in DTS. Seeing people with no hope of hearing the gospel marked my life.

Julie

I was raised in a Christian home and as a kid I wanted to be a missionary or a pastors wife. We had family friends who had started Ywam Papua New Guinea, so I heard their amazing God stories. The Lord spoke to me to do a DTS, which started my journey of being a missionary/in full-time ministry for most of the past 20 years.

I did my DTS in 1999 in Lakeside, Montana. It was such a great experience and my first time overseas! I experience the Holy Spirit in a very real way and the Lord gave me a heart for Asia, as my outreach team went to Nepal.

Luke

I have visited a variety of bases over the years. The one that most impacted me was in Northwest India. It was incredible to see the commitment, sacrifice, and fruitfulness of these Indian believers. You knew that they were giving up everything to go all in for the gospel.

Julie

Ywam Lakeside, Montana, Ywam Orlando, Ywam Nashville, Ywam Lae, Papua New Guinea, Ywam Auckland and Teranga, New Zealand, Ywam Chitwan, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Nepal, Ywam Harpenden, England, Ywam Cimarron, Colorado, Ywam Trinidad, Colorado

Having the opportunity to celebrate Easter, in a very unreached part of India, with a small group of believers was incredible. There had been a crazy storm the night before, and we experienced a lot of spiritual warfare, oppression, and attack. So much so that we all got up got our backpacks on and we’re ready to move out. Early in the morning, the storm broke, and the sun broke through, and we celebrated how Jesus came and brought us life! It was such a memorable time for me because of the location, the day and the surrounding events.

Julie

I remember being at a Hindu temple in Nepal and feeling strongly the oppression and spiritual warfare. I had the revelation that that because of Jesus living inside me just me walking in that area was battling in the spirit realm because of bringing Jesus into a place. I felt I didn’t even have to do anything but just stand there and it was warfare against the enemy. It was a powerful recognition of us carrying the light of Jesus into places and what that does in the spirit realm to break through the darkness!
