The More You Know

Hi! My name is Celeste Huyard, and I was born and raised in Lancaster County. The Lord has placed a desire in my heart to see this region stirred by the presence of Jesus and respond with wholehearted surrender to Him. I believe Lancaster is not only a place with a rich heritage of faith, but also a sending ground to the nations. In obedience to the Great Commission, my vision is to see believers encounter the Living God in a way that transforms their lives and compels them to go. I long to see people continually raised up, equipped, and sent from this region to unreached nations that have yet to hear the gospel. I am committed to partnering with what God is doing locally so that His Kingdom would advance globally.

Vision Statement

I step into staffing with YWAM Lancaster with faith and expectation, believing I am called to help see the unreached met with the good news of Jesus. I believe the Lord is stirring this region for missions, advancing His Kingdom here and to the ends of the earth.

Right now, my favorite book of the Bible is the Gospel of John. It so beautifully reveals Jesus as our Lord, the Son of God, the Word made flesh, and the Lamb of God who gave His life for us. Even as I think of Him now, I am overcome with awe and wonder for the One we worship.

Generally I prefer using ESV. It is easy to understand, and I appreciate its literal accuracy. The Bible is so good, and we have been so blessed to have different translations to choose from!

Thailand was one of the most memorable mission experiences of my life. Aside from my earliest years as a child, it was my first time traveling overseas and everything was entirely new. Life in Asia is so different from what I had known in the United States, and I quickly grew to love the warm and hospitable culture. At the same time, my heart was grieved by the reality that many people there have yet to know the salvation Jesus offers. Seeing Thai believers worship in their own language moved me to tears. Their purity and tenderness towards the Lord was deeply inspiring. Throughout our time there, I felt the Lord giving me His heart for the people, filling me with profound purpose and peace as we ministered there.

Over the years, the Lord has faithfully stirred my heart toward missions, showing me again and again how worthy He is. I think of Isaiah in chapter 6, who, after encountering the holiness of God, responded without hesitation, “Here am I! Send me!” In the same way, I am filled with joy as I offer Jesus my wholehearted “yes” to wherever He leads me. He calls all believers to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Whatever specific assignment He has for you, we are each called to play a part.

I completed my DTS in November of 2022. This experience greatly impacted my perspective on missions. During lecture phase, the Lord gripped my heart for the gospel in a way I had never experienced before. Then on outreach my heart broke for the unreached. We were in Thailand, and I will never forget the first time I shared about Jesus with someone who had never even heard His name before. This was astonishing to me because I truly saw how great a need there is for the good news to go forth. I am reminded of Romans 10:14-15 that says, “And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”

In 2024 on a trip to Romania, my team and I gathered to pray before going out to evangelize. My friend got a clear picture of a crippled man on the side walk in a red shirt. Then on our drive to the destination as I was looking out the window as we played “Asleep in the Light” by Keith Green (which you should listen to if you haven’t before) I gasped as we drove past a man with this exact description. We ended up turning our vehicle around, struggled to track him down, finally found him again, pulled over and shared the gospel. This elderly gentleman has large tears rolling down his cheeks as we shared with him the love of Jesus – and how God sees Him.
