The More You Know

Hi! My name is Ella Gross! I was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland, where I grew a love for Jesus and a passion for seeing others experience His love. My heart’s cry is to see young people understand their true identity in Christ and experience the fullness of the Father’s love for them. I want to see this generation set free and sent into the calling the Lord has placed on their lives.

I attended DTS and the Catalyst Internship with YWAM Lancaster, and I’m so excited to continue here on staff, helping send people to the nations! Thank you for your prayers and partnership!

Ephesians is my favorite book of the Bible because it paints such a clear picture of our salvation and what that means, the unity of the church, how we should live as Christians, and what it means to walk in our authority in Christ. I especially love the prayer in Ephesians, because it comes from the root of love — and that is what I am called to do: to bring Christ’s love to others.

I use the NIV because it helps me connect with youth in ministry. It’s easy to understand, yet it doesn’t overexplain or stretch the meaning of the Word. It’s simple and straightforward, and at the very least, it helps me understand so I can communicate it clearly to others.

The most exciting place I’ve been as a missionary was Costa Rica, and it was so memorable because the Lord poured out His heart for the people there. We gave out hundreds of Bibles, which was incredibly life-giving, and serving through physical labor was so much fun. The joy of the Lord covered the trip, even in the difficult moments.

The Lord called me into DTS, and during that time I realized the gravity of how many people in the world don’t know Jesus. Missions had always seemed like such a big concept in my head, but when it was boiled down to simply spreading the gospel, I realized that was all I wanted to do. Jesus changed my life, and I couldn’t live a normal life knowing that there are still people who don’t even know His name.

I completed my DTS in the fall of 2024, and it was an amazing experience. DTS led me to full surrender to the Lord, and full surrender meant saying yes to Jesus when He called me to missions. For me, missions is simply obeying the Lord and having a heart that burns for His people to be set free.

In Albania, I was dancing to worship music in a public place when a little girl locked eyes with me and had the biggest smile on her face. In that moment, the Lord spoke and said, “Ella, that was you.” When I was little, I grew a love for dance because I saw people dancing for the Lord, and dance shaped my relationship with Him for a time. This moment made me realize how much impact a single moment can have on a young girl’s life. It inspired me even more to continue pursuing the things God has placed on my heart.
