The More You Know

Howdy there! I’m Jacob Necela. I grew up in Texas, and from a young age, the Lord placed a deep hunger in my heart to truly know Him. After completing my DTS with Circuit Riders, I felt a strong call to step into full-time missions—to stir a hunger and thirst in my generation for the one true living God and to share Jesus with those who have yet to receive Him. I’m excited to be here with YWAM Lancaster, partnering with God in what He’s doing both in the nations and right here in America. My heart is to see my generation truly encounter God in a powerful way—to love Him wholeheartedly, worship Him sincerely, and respond to the Great Commission. I’m also expectant and excited to see how God moves as we continue going to the hardest and darkest places on earth to preach the gospel.

I pray that in everything, Jesus would be glorified and receive the reward of His suffering. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. God bless!

I really enjoy the Psalms and 1 John. The Psalms are so powerful because they help me be real and honest with the Lord, and He has spoken to me through them in some of the toughest seasons. I love 1 John because it boils down the whole Gospel—and life in general—into one central theme: love. John shows how God has loved us, which now enables us to love others!

I grew up always using the ESV, but recently I’ve started using the NLT. I love it because of its simplicity—it’s especially helpful when trying to explain complicated passages, like Paul’s letters.

So far, I’d say Cambodia! It was really fun and exciting because we were out in the middle of the villages—sleeping in hammocks, using squatty potties, and really roughing it. It was challenging, but definitely an adventure! I really enjoyed connecting with the people there and learning their culture, even though it’s quite different from ours.

God really began to birth a heart in me for my generation and the youth of America during a weekly prayer meeting in high school. Then, when the Lord spoke to me about doing a DTS, that heart grew even more!

Recently, the Lord has also been giving me a growing heart for the nations as well.

I completed my DTS with Circuit Riders in the spring of 2024. We went on outreach to South Africa, and that experience really opened my eyes to what other nations are like—and how important the call of the Great Commission truly is!

One thing that deeply impacted me was my time in South Africa and Cambodia, where I witnessed extreme poverty—people with very little, some even persecuted by their own families. Yet, those who have Jesus radiate such joy and live with incredible purpose, fulfillment, and vision.

That deeply encouraged me and reminded me that the only thing I truly need for joy and fulfillment in this life is JESUS. No matter what I have, as long as I have Him, I have everything I need!
