Carlos + Amanda Vargas

The More You Know

We are the Vargas Crew – Carlos, Amanda, Elianna, Julian, Malachi and Mateo! We feel called to use our gifts and skills to serve the mission of YWAM Lancaster to catalyze this generation through intentional discipleship, helping strengthen marriages and building community to impact Lancaster and the nations. We have a passion to train leaders and disciple young adults. We felt led to journey with the Lord into YWAM back in 2019 with a heart for missions where we stepped into pursuing a pioneering base in Ephrata, PA. We both serve in leadership as Training Directors and on YWAM Lancaster’s Leadership team. Amanda is also the Director of The Hub Learning Center (A discipleship learning community equipping families and teachers through out of the box education). Carlos

Daniel has been one of my favorites to read over and over again. There’s descriptions of Gods faithfulness and sovereignty. There is so much to glean from a short 12 chapter book that embodies so much of God and how we should live in the midst of hardship and persecution. It teaches us how to not compromise even for a second but stay abiding in who God is and listen for the holy spirits guidance. The deep faith and trust the 3 friends had to stand up to the King and trust God and then Daniel to trust God in the den. They had history and intimacy with God that brought them to a point of challenge by the culture they were in and they were able to face it with courage and confidence.

I usually read the Christian standard Bible and the new American standard Bible.

We lived in Ethiopia for 8 months and served along so many people but mainly children and youth in orphanages. Connecting with them and spending lots of time getting to know them built a trust and love between.

Ethiopia it was our first taste of missions as a family and we loved that!!

Carlos

I fell in love with missions when I kept hearing stories of God moving in power and encountering people in the nations at age 17. My desire to see that fulfilled through me to be used as a vessel to show his majesty and worthiness.

I have read missionary biographies since I was child and remember reading mother Theresa story as a child and I thought I want to do that with my life when I grow up!

We did our DTS at YWAM Orlando and going through it only increased our vision to see many young people be raised as leaders and restored to their purpose so they can fulfill all God has for them.

Amanda

YWAM has opened my eyes to the unreached and least reached nations and grown my love for them.

We’ve visited many bases state side and only one outside of the states. I’m excited for all the thats being done to further the kingdom of God and the hunger to see Him move everywhere!

Carlos

I learned a lot while in Ethiopia and the importance of discipleship and relationships. It grew my heart for the nations, different cultures and intentional discipleship. We now look forward more than ever to walk with and disciple the next generation!

Amanda

Just the ability to live a life of discipleship has been a huge shift for me. Not only has it given me extra accountability but it has taught me more and more about Gods character and how much he really loves other so well.
