The More You Know

We are Micah and Anna Necela! We have served with YWAM Lancaster together for about two years. We desire to see people set on fire for Jesus and sent out into unreached places of the world. Knowing Jesus and making Him known is our ultimate goal and desire everywhere we go, but especially among the unreached. We are partnering with YWAM Lancaster by joining one of their long term plant teams to Cambodia. We are so excited to see how God continues to lead our lives and we’re thankful for everyone who is a part of that!

Micah – Such a hard decision! Romans probably, just because it seems to sum up the whole bible in one book and is just so powerful.

Anna – Honestly don’t know that I have an official favorite. Luke holds a special place in my heart because I did a WBH school 🙂

Micah – ESV. I think it’s easy to understand but still proven accurate.

Anna – I bounce around. NLT is an easy read, but challenging myself to read more ESV.

Micah – Papua New Guinea. Just seeing the wildness of how uncivilized some of the places we went were like they don’t have very much Western influence, so seeing them react to us being there was crazy!

Anna – Working with refugees in the Middle East. I love hearing peoples stories. Sometimes they just need a listening ear and some hope.
Hiking the Himalayas was also pretty cool

Micah – When I was growing up I’d read about Hudson Taylor and Jim Elliot and think I’m going to do that when I’m older. And here I am! The lord has encountered me and given me a heart for it.

Anna – My older brother, initially. My mom always read us missionary books growing up, so I’m sure that played a pretty big role. 🙂 DTS changed my life and I knew God had more nations to take me to

Micah – Spring of 2023. It really just gave me an avenue to express the dream of God that is on my heart to see every nation, tongue, and tribe know Him.

Anna – Summer 2015. I never wanted to go to Africa, but I became a “mom” on that trip. God gave me a greater heart for the orphan and those in need. DTS opened my eyes to a lot of injustices in the world and made me want to be part of the answer for some of those things.

YWAM DC, YWAM Pittsburg, YWAM Madang, YWAM Manila,  and YWAM Battambang. Just seeing the hunger for the Lord and the burning zeal all across the nations for Jesus to be lifted high is super cool. I find it so cool how different bases do different things. There was this time before I went to Cambodia I had prayed and asked the Lord, Lord would you give me Devine appointments in Cambodia. So one day he gave me a vision of a woman on a bed not walking and I prayed for her and she got up and walked. So then a month later, I was in a remote village in Cambodia, and was walking along and saw this lame woman on a bed. I ran up to her and prayed for her! 9 times I prayed for her and every time it got a little better and a little better! Finally the 9th time she was fully healed!! Two weeks later we went back and she was still doing amazing!!! Praise God!!!!

Anna – Lots. All over the place. Every base has a different culture/way of functioning. To function in teams we have to be flexible and learn from each other. There’s not just one way of doing things/one base who is always right. So I try to stay open-minded and flexible.

Anna – Being sick several times in the Himalayas made me want to quit missions altogether. One day, I had a raw, honest moment with God in the middle of a random village that felt like “nowhere.” I was sick, cold, and miserable. But God gave me a revelation of the cross and how much further he would go for the lost… even just one. So I pulled up my bootstraps and kept going. After that, God continued to open doors for our team to disciple the church and share with those who had never heard the gospel before. People would come from hours away because they heard we were in town and could offer some form of hope for them. It was truly a life-changing trip for me.
